High-efficiency Low-cost Smart IoT Agriculture Irrigation, Soil's Fertility and Moisture Controlling System

The world's population increased exponentially and more food is required to support the growing population. However, existing agriculture solutions are too costly for small-scale farmers. This has motivated us design a Smart IoT Agriculture System (SIAS) monitor control soil's moisture fertility levels. SIAS low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) solution that used an online app water consumption level. ESP8266 microcontroller in automatically irrigation system consists soil sensor, thermal probe, pump. pH sensor data collected from sensors uploaded ThingSpeak cloud database through WiFi. Blynk on smartphone. prototype development, implementation details optimal operation condition reported this paper. with total cost USD46 proven have lower (85% lower), real-time monitoring better crop growth rate compared conventional watering timer system.
